‘MediaCityUK Advertisement,’ “Our vision is for MediaCityUK to become a leading international hub for the creative and digital sectors, and a vibrant destination to work, live and play.”
Located at Salford Quays on the banks of Manchester’s historical ship canal, MediaCityUK is the new home for the BBC, ITV, Coronation Street, SIS, and the University of Salford.
In February 2011, Graphic Design students from the University of Salford, were asked to draw an illustrative advertisement in order to raise awareness of the new pioneering city. I decided to create my own hand-drawn typography. Collaged inside each letter is mini-illustrations of MediaCityUK’s beliefs, ideals and what they have to offer. When the document is rotated on the side, it shows a simple representation of MediaCityUK’s buildings.

‘Strangest Person In The World’, Mail art is a worldwide cultural movement that began in the early 1960’s and involves sending visual art (but also music, sound art, poetry, etc.) through the international postal system. It is usually based on the principles of barter and equal one-to-one collaboration. The visual art would usually be sent on its own, without an envelope, meaning the participants address would be wrote upon the item.
‘Strangest Person In The World’, was the title of a mail art call made by a primary school in Manchester, UK. I created a canvas book using the collage techniques of Claudine Hellmuth. It is based on my youngest cousin.
